Home Made Medicine for Common Cold

I am a very hesitant mother when it comes to Allopathy medicines to treat common cold, particularly for my 4 year old . The reason being, common relapses very soon after the dosage completion. The weather in Hyderabad is extremely dry and winter is too cold out here. I have seen my daughter catching up cold very easily and in an year she will be free of cold only in summer for about 2 months. So I went ahead to adapt the Granny's Traditional medicine that can be prepared with herbs that come as a gift to us from Nature. This works very nicely for my family and my lil one with no side effects and relapsing is lesser. I have started using this medicine for her when she is 3 years old, As any other mother, I took time to test Allopathy medicines on her which has only a temporary solution and with lot of side effects like Constipation, No hunger etc. Ingredients: 1. Eggless Fruit Cake

Ingredients: Maida - 150 gms Sugar - 150 gms Salt - 1 Pinch Butter - 125 gms Milk - 50 ml Vanila Essence - 1 Tea spoon Cloves - 2 Elaichi - 2 Cinnamon - 1 inch Baking Powder - 1 Tea spoon Baking Soda - 1 Tea Spoon Mixed Fruit Jam - 2 Table spoons Chopped Raisins - 50 gms Chopped Cashew nuts - 50 gms Chopped Walnuts - 50 gms Chopped Tuti Fruits - 50 gms Materials: 1. Aluminum tray greased with ghee 2. Knife 1. Melt butter and mix all the dry fruits. 2. Make a fine powder of all the spices Cloves,Elaichi and Cinnamon and mix. 3. Sieve Maida, Baking Powder and Baking soda for three times so that they mix well. 4. Add this mix slowly. 5. Add Sugar, Salt, Fruit jam and Vanilla essence. 6. Mix thoroughly and add milk till you get a Vada flour consistency. 7. Put the above mix into the aluminium tray. 8. Pre heat oven at 200 C for about 15 minutes 9. Chocolate Fudge

Ingredients: Milk Powder - 200 gms Sugar - 200 gms Cocoa powder - 25 gms Unsalted Butter - 100 gms Water - 125 gms Ghee - 1 Tea spoon Materials: 1. Aluminum Tray or a silver plate or chocolate moulds 2. Knife 1. Sieve Milk powder( alternatibely you can use Nestle Dairy Whitener) and Cocoa Powder 3 times so that they mix well and keep it aside 2. Put Sugar in to a pan and add water to it. Start heating this till you get a one thread consistency. 3. Now add butter to it and stir well till the butter melts and mixes nicely with the sugar solution. 4. Now add the Milk powder and Cocoa powder mix slowly. Once added, keep stirring the mix for about 5- 6 minutes in low flame only.You will see the mix raising nicely while stirring. 6. Sweet and Salt Butter Biscuits

Ingredients for about 25 biscuits: Butter - 150 gms Cornflour - 100 gms Maida - 200 gms Vanilla essence - 1 Tea Spoon Icing Sugar 50 gms Salt - 2 pinches Ghee - 1 Tea Spoon to grease Materials: 1. Aluminium tray to bake 2. Biscuit cutter/ a glass tumbler to cut shapes 3. Rolling plate and pin 4. Butter paper (optional) 1. Take a medium size bowl in which you can mix easily with a wooden spoon.Alternatively you can use a mixer blender( not the regular mixer). First put Butter and Icing Sugar into the bowl. Mix for 2-3 minutes, till you see a thorough sticky mix. 2. Sieve Maida, Cornflour and Salt together three times, so that it gets mixed up well. Now add this mix slowly spoon by spoon and mix for about 2- 3 minutes. Taste the mix to check if tastes sweet. If you find it to be less sweety, you can sprikle some icing sugar and mix thorougly.
